Dior Takes to the Road: A Colorful Debut at Selfridges
LONDON — While London's winter chill blankets the city in icy hues, a vibrant splash of color is set to brighten the corner of Oxford and Duke Streets as Dior makes its way into Selfridges’ Corner Shop this Thursday.
This exciting event celebrates the unveiling of Jonathan Anderson’s inaugural collections for both men and women, marking a significant moment for the brand as it temporarily occupies the Selfridges concept space. This pop-up experience will last for nearly two months, from Thursday through February 28, offering a rare opportunity for customers to explore both men's and women's wear side by side on the shop floor. Just last week, these collections made their international retail debuts, creating quite a buzz in the fashion world.
The layout of the store draws inspiration from Dior’s rich archives, featuring the iconic gray boxes that have become synonymous with the luxury brand. Highlighting the collection will be Dior’s Book Cover totes, which showcase designs inspired by Anderson's beloved literary classics such as "Dracula," "Ulysses," "In Cold Blood," "Les Fleurs du Mal," and "Bonjour Tristesse."
Additionally, visitors can enjoy a personalization service, allowing them to customize Dior bookmarks and notebooks with their initials. A unique weekly game will also invite attendees to select one of the gray Dior boxes, some of which contain golden tickets that grant access to exclusive gifts designed by Anderson himself.
These signature gray boxes are reminiscent of Dior’s original boutique, Colifichets, which translates to "trinkets." At the pop-up, they are creatively arranged, stacked high, and balanced by playful bellboy mannequins or organized into eye-catching totem poles and arches.
Delphine Arnault, the chairman and CEO of Christian Dior Couture, remarked that the introduction of Anderson’s first collections represents a pivotal moment for the house of Dior, symbolizing a fresh chapter in its storied history. She emphasized that the "tremendous creative momentum" surrounding the new collections is complemented by imaginative decor and window displays at Dior’s flagship stores worldwide, alongside specially designed pop-ups like the one at Selfridges in London, Le Bon Marché in Paris, and SKP in Beijing.
The Bon Marché pop-up is scheduled to run from January 26 to February 22, while the SKP location opened this week and will remain operational until March 3.
Arnault expressed her excitement about how Anderson's artistry brilliantly merges menswear and womenswear, reinventing traditional codes and reinterpreting the brand's heritage with a refreshing and witty twist. This fusion opens up intriguing possibilities for 2026 and beyond.
Judd Crane, Selfridges' executive director of buying and brand, stated that the first Corner Shop of 2026 promises a unique opportunity to engage with Dior. He expressed eagerness to unveil an exciting distillation of the first season under Jonathan Anderson’s creative direction, emphasizing that the shop is filled with "imaginative products, unexpected animations, and storytelling," marking a significant new chapter for Dior.
According to reports, The Corner Shop will also feature Dior Oblique leather goods refreshed by Anderson; the Roadie and Saltwind sneakers; the Archie and Heir loafers; along with a variety of ties, caps, and other items from the upcoming men’s summer 2026 collection.
For women, the collection includes pieces adorned with the lucky clover, a long-standing emblem of Dior, showcased on T-shirts, denim, and a variation of the Lady Dior bag from the spring 2026 line. Other highlights include the Cigale bag, honoring a signature haute couture dress designed by Christian Dior in 1952, Médaillon belts, Initials pumps, and charming bag accessories.
This takeover at the Corner Shop signifies Dior's return to Selfridges, as the brand last staged an event there in the summer of 2021 with the Dioriviera pop-up, which included a takeover of the rooftop restaurant featuring the seasonal toile de Jouy print.
But Selfridges is just one of Dior's stops in London this month. The brand is also planning to adorn the entirety of New Bond and Bond streets with 33 flags, each showcasing an image of Dior’s Medallion chair dressed in the vibrant designs of the Book Cover totes. These flags will be displayed from January 15 to February 15.
